Country chic and vintage is in!  I think the only way you might have missed that is if you’ve been living under a rock.  Just teasing. But lace details, rustic elegance, shabby chic…they’re all the rage right now.

So when Chloe turned 18 (remember Chloe’s 16th birthday cake?), that’s what she wanted!  She chose a cake inspired by the Lilly Pulizer First Impression pattern.

Lilly Pulitzer-inspired birthday cake!

The cake was iced in light blue buttercream and the floral pattern was hand-piped with 3 different shades of pink buttercream.  We made the topper out of fondant and hand-painted the gold accents.

And to go along with the country chic theme, they asked us to make coordinating decorated cookies.  We made 30 flowers in pinks, yellows, and peaches to match the cake and 3 mason jars that read “Having a Ball Since 1996.” Such a cute idea!

They planned to display the cookies as shown above, with a mix of colors in the bouquets. But, just for fun, we took photos of an only pink bouquet and an only peach & yellow bouquet.  Which do you prefer?

We asked that same question on our Facebook Fan Page.  The results:

17% voted for all peach & yellow

44% voted for all pink

33% voted for mixed

6% couldn’t decide
