Flowers, Bees, and Ladybugs Birthday Cake

Birthday season is here for our family!  All of my daughter’s playmates are turning 1 year old between now and October so brace yourself for quite a few 1st birthday cakes in the upcoming weeks.  They’ll vary from rainbow colors to baseball to garden-themed to cutesy owls. I can’t wait!

Last weekend, Camila turned 1!  Her parents chose a garden-themed cake with flowers, bumble bees, and lady bugs – all in fun, soft colors.

Did you catch her Sneak Peek on Facebook?

Well, here’s the whole cake:

The cake was iced in light blue buttercream and decorated with fondant flowers, snails, bumble bees, and lady bugs.

Camila's personlized topper for her 1st birthday cake!

Camila’s personalized topper featured a giant #1 and her name in polka dots.

And every 1st birthday cake comes with a coordinating smash cake!

Most of the time, I deliver the birthday cake & smash cake to the party before the guests arrive so I never get to see any of the cake fun!  This time, though, we were party guests too so we caught a few memorable moments of Camila with her cake.

“What is this thing, Mommy?”

"What am I supposed to do with this thing???"

“Um…I’m not so sure about this…this blue stuff is sticking to my fingers…”

"I'd rather have Puffs!"

“Ok, take it away! I’m all done!  Bring on the Puffs!”

Camila wasn’t thrilled with her smash cake but perhaps that’s a good thing – less mess to clean up!  But the rest of the birthday cake was quickly cut and served to all the hungry guests.
