Last weekend, I had the pleasure of making Tina’s & Pietro’s wedding cake for their reception at the Lowry Park Zoo! The two of them met at a fundraising event at the zoo, and they’ve been on an African safari together. So, it was only natural that they chose a wedding cake covered with silhouettes of African animals.
The cake was covered with a light ivory fondant and decorated with chocolate brown animal silhouettes and tiny cornflower blue buttercream wildflowers. The bottom tier was spice cake with cream cheese filling, and the top 2 tiers were Oreo cake with cookies ‘n cream filling.
The front of the cake featured baboons, giraffe, zebra, ostrich, and hippos.
From the side, you could see the herd of elephants and a rhinoceros.
And from the other side, you could see a lion and a family of warthogs. Hakuna Matata!
They decorated Reilly’s Reserve with gorgeous strings of lights, candles, and show-stopping centerpieces.
And through those back windows, you could see the giraffe and elephant habitats! How cool!
