We make cakes for all occasions! This one was created for a baby’s baptism. Hadley’s Mom asked for a cross-shaped cake with a quilted pattern an a purple bow. No problem! This elegant cake was perfect for sweet Hadley’s baptism!
We are proud supporters of Icing Smiles, a nonprofit organization that provides custom celebration cakes and other treats to families impacted by the critical illness of a child. Basically, a family applies to receive a special celebration cake, and bakers volunteer to do the cake for FREE! It’s really an amazing program – especially considering how many bakers willingly devote their time and resources to make others smile.
We have had the opportunity to bake 2 cakes for Icing Smiles and the most recent one was for an Hungry Caterpillar party. Fun! The family asked for vanilla cake with strawberry cream filling, but left the design completely up to us. Here’s what we created for baby Eleanor who was turning 1:
Last year, we made Eva’s 1st birthday cake with zebra print and whimsical, brightly colored flowers. So we knew when Eva’s Mom contacted us for her 2nd birthday cake, it would be another fun one!
This year, they wanted a cake that centered around the Yo Gabba Gabba TV show on Nick Jr. Mel watched a few episodes for “research.” That is one silly, off-the-wall show…
This is the cake Mel and Eva’s Mom designed together: Continue reading
We love helping families break the news about pregnancies to their families. Usually, the big reveal is whether the baby is a boy or girl, but a few months ago, we were able to help a future Mommy tell her family that she was pregnant!
Maggie, a soon-to-be first-time Mom, asked us to make personalized cookies for her step-daughters. The onesie cookies read “I can’t wait to meet my BIG sister Jaidyn/Mikayla!” As you can see from the picture, the girls were thrilled with the news! Continue reading
Last weekend, Mel baked her own Gender Reveal Cake to break the news to the family. Was the cake pink or blue? Watch this YouTube video of the cake cutting to find out!
Mel also had a giveaway on her Facebook page, and the winner of the $15 gift certificate was….*drum roll please*…Sheryl Aman! Sheryl, check your Facebook Messages because we sent you the instructions for claiming your gift certificate.
Mel’s having another baby! She already knows the gender of Baby #2, but do you??? Guess the gender and post your suggestion for a name on our Facebook Page for a chance to win a $15 gift certificate from Ph.D.-serts & Cakes! Everyone who comments will be entered to win.
We’ll reveal both the gender AND the winner on Sunday, December 9, 2012. Good luck!
And, by the way, did you see us on the Fox 13 news? They did a whole segment on gender reveal cakes and we were thrilled to contribute! Check out the segment here, and then call us to schedule your own gender reveal cake.
Well the news is out! We’ve called all our friends & family and even announced it on Facebook. Announcing it on Facebook was a little intimidating for me…once you say anything, EVERYONE knows! That’s a little scary!
So, it’s only fair to announce it here too…I’m pregnant! My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 15 months so the fact that there is a baby (currently the size of a blueberry, according to what I’ve read) growing inside me is a bit surreal. And since we’d been trying so long, we had to come up with a creative way to break the news to our immediate families!
I made cookies in the shape of onesies using this cutter & texture mat set from Country Kitchen Sweet Art. On each cookie, I hand-painted a special message for each family member.
These are the cookies for my Dad, Mom, and sister:
