A few weeks ago, I was asked to create a small, but very special cake for Landon’s 5th birthday. He recently went to Universal Orlando for his “fake birthday” with his family. Apparently, he really, really, really liked the Popeye river rapids-style ride and made his family ride it 3 times in a row!
So his Mommy (Michelle at ME Photography) asked me to create a cake inspired by the ride. 
I created Popeye himself out of fondant and gum paste. He stood probably about 6-7 inches tall and towered over the #5 of the cake! I had to include a small can of spinach because that’s so characteristic of Popeye. And I made it look like Popeye was standing on a deck like you’d see at the Universal Orlando attraction.
Now since Michelle is one of the top child photographers in Tampa (she’s awesome, really), she had to set up a photo shoot for Landon. She asked him to do some Popeye impressions, and he is the cutest little Popeye I’ve ever seen!
