Ph.D.-serts | Ice Cream 1st Birthday Party | Tampa Wedding Bakery

Melanie’s second daughter just celebrated her 1st birthday!  Since Melanie ate an ice cream sundae almost every night of her pregnancy with Hailee and since Hailee loves ice cream, they decide to theme the whole birthday after everyone’s favorite frozen treat.

Hailee's birthday invitation created by Melanie!Hailee's cake and favor table.

Melanie served ice cream at the party instead of cake, but every party needs a celebration cake so Hailee’s birthday cake was entirely fake.  The inside was Styrofoam and the outside was fondant and other edible decorations you’d see on a real cake.

Hailee's ice cream themed 1st birthday cake!Melanie also created party favors for all the attendees that were cookies decorated to look like banana splits.  Did you see the sneak peek on Facebook?  We ran a contest to see who could guess what the final cookie would look like.

Party favors = cookies decorated like banana splits! And Melanie found this idea on Pinterest:

Ice cream hydrangeas!White hydrangeas arranged to look like ice cream scoops with a fake cherry on top!  Later, the centerpiece was made even better when Hailee’s grandpa stuck a spoon in the hydrangeas. Too bad we didn’t get a picture of that…

Hailee was sick with the flu and just wanted to be held by Mommy.Unfortunately, Hailee came down with the flu the day before the party.  But, since it was outdoors and everything was already paid for, we had the party anyway.  Hailee was content to be held by Mommy, but we did have to snap this quick picture.  She wasn’t too happy, but we still think the photo is adorable!

Melanie, Hailee, Mikaela, and AdamHailee’s smash cake was 3 cupcakes arranged on top of an ice cream cone.  We posted another sneak peek on Facebook.  But Hailee has never been a huge fan of cake, and she wasn’t impressed with the feel of the buttercream on her fingers so the smash cake went largely un-smashed.

Hailee's smash cakeThen everyone created their own ice cream sundaes! The ice cream flavors were vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry and the topping choices were cherries, rainbow jimmies, chocolate jimmies, M&Ms, praline crunch, crushed Oreos, gummie bears, pecans, walnuts, sliced bananas, caramel sauce, chocolate sauce, or strawberry sauce.

Mikaela making her own ice cream sundae.Hailee spent the whole party in the Ergo carrier, and she was very mellow.  But she piped up when the ice cream came out!

Hailee preferred ice cream to her smash cake.Happy birthday, sweet Hailee!
