Super hero-themed birthday parties are so IN! We’ve been dying to try our hands on a super hero cake, and the opportunity finally arrived when Kenneth’s Mom (aka Katy at Birdie Baby Boutique) asked us to make his cake. Yes!
Living in the Sunshine State, it’s hard to avoid beach-themed cakes and parties. But we’re not complaining! We love the beach! For Gabby’s 7th birthday, she chose a mermaid-themed party and wanted a sand castle birthday cake.
We’ve been a little quiet on the blog lately because September and October are big months for us! But right in the middle of September, Mel’s baby girl turned 1 so we have to share a few photos.
We went with a rainbow themed party because color makes Mel happy, and Mikaela isn’t old enough to express any opinions yet. Although, we’re pretty sure she enjoyed herself. *wink*
Here’s the cake table set-up with Mikaela’s personalized birthday banner, cookie favors, goodie bags, and of course the cake!
Beck had an “Under the Sea” 1st birthday party so we iced the cake in light blue buttercream and decorated it with fondant sea animals, buttercream kelp, and brown sugar “sand.”
We love when people give us creative license to do whatever “floats our boat” when we decorate their cakes or cookies. Jessica asked us to make her baby shower favors and she sent us a few ideas as well as her invitations and shower colors. But she was open to all of our ideas and trusted us to make something fantastic.
We’ve been doing a lot of cookies lately, but we’ve been very bad about posting them on the blog. So, today, let’s do a little cookie catch-up!
By the way, did you know that a percentage of the proceeds from all cookie orders in 2012 will be donated to the Susan G Komen 3-Day for the Cure??? Yes-siree! Of course, you can always make a donation without placing an order but you might as well get some cookies out of the deal too, right?!
What would cookies for a man turning 39 years old who loves the University of Florida Gators, the beach, and surfing look like? Like these, of course!
“No more pencils
No more books
No more teacher’s dirty looks…School’s out for summer!”
-Schools Out by Alice Cooper
Yes, school’s out! The kids are on the loose in the neighborhood. But before they left the classroom, the teachers probably tried to teach them one last thing before their brains turned to much over the vacation.
During the last week of school at Burney Elementary School in Plant City, the children celebrated the opening of a brand new butterfly garden on school grounds! And to make the celebration just a little bit sweeter, we made butterfly cookies for the students.
With Memorial Day just around the corner, these cookies that we made for Melissa last week are sooooooo appropriate!
When former clients move out of town and we can no longer make birthday cakes for them (because we don’t ship cakes), it’s a bummer! We can always do cookie favors, but it’s the cake that’s the most fun thing to work on.
So when Lourdes contacted us regarding her son’s birthday, she had an idea! What if we did the figures and she put them on the cake at the party? Sure, we can do that! So we made 3 edible Bob the Builder figures and packed them up for shipment. Now, we can’t wait to see pictures of the cake and the rest of the party!
